My art is a synthesis of personal experiences and philosophical concepts. Each piece is a result of a meticulous process that involves layering and repetition, which I believe imbues the work with a metaphysical depth and resonance. For example, in "étude sans titre," the act of cloud watching from underneath the flowers symbolizes a return to childhood innocence and the simple pleasures of nature.
Through my art, I aim to invite viewers to contemplate their own projected identities and the fragmented nature of personal and collective histories. By filling these gaps with whimsical alternative narratives, I hope to offer a new perspective on silenced voices and marginalized histories.
As I continue to explore the cultural intersectionality of the African diaspora, I plan to further integrate quilting and collaging into my practice, seeking to uncover hidden stories and forgotten narratives. Ultimately, my art is a form of storytelling that seeks to connect with audiences on a deeply emotional and spiritual level, inviting them to participate in a shared journey of healing and transformation.
